Portugal’s Alkalino is an expert juggler, always keeping his original productions up in the air alongside his edits. Here though he’s firmly plumped for the latter, delivering a whopping 11 scalpel jobs for our listening pleasure. As expected the LP spans everything from vintage disco, cosmic funk and house. “Momentum” was created using multiple improvised and layered audio segments each recorded in real-time. The album is nearly beatless, however there are percussive and rhythmic elements that appear throughout. The long track durations necessitated a digital release.

The final track captures voices, and (what are assumed to be) coyote howls at night as the animals passed through nearby woods. The sample was recorded while stargazing in Calhoun County, West Virginia.
