Low Jack lands his debut LP of exotic, esoteric riddims on L.I.E.S. after a slew of white-hot, down-slow club bangers. Originally commissioned as a live performance at the Quai Branly Museum (MQB) of indigenous art, the ‘Garifuna Variations’ feature percussive samples taken from the museum’s collection of recordings from Honduras, Central America and remodelled into Low Jack’s signature technoid gyrations. You’d be hard pushed to pass them off as peaktime dancefloor tackle, but as a flavour of Low Jack’s oeuvre it’s his strangest and most intriguing sensation to date, scudding from humid, distorted soundscapes to blown out pan pipe ritual, and roiling, effluent industrial groan with a consistently psychedelic and restrained approach that calls to mind some Legowelt’s oddest missions and equally the outsider black metal zones of Edasi/Ishtisshad, or Cut Hands’ vodoun incursions.

Stepping up with his second album for 50 Weapons, Addison Groove is once again mining the rhythmic excitement of juke and footwork and working it into his blue-hued melodic headspace. Standout vocal cut ‘”Just You” is a prime example of the upbeat flavour across the album, while “11th” matches the plush harmonies with moodier switch-ups, and “The Spirit Level” drops the tempo into a house bump that lends itself to the illustrious synth sweeps. Typically though the beats are in that twitchy middle ground between dubstep and footwork, leaving plenty of space for razor-sharp constructions and dazzling edits as best demonstrated on the dynamic acid roll of “Space Apples”.

JD Twitch & JG Wilkes aka Optimo Espacio do what they do best on this 21-track selection of nocturnal beauties. Their follow-up to Fabric 52 – the duo’s last commercially available mix CD – takes a lowlit side-entrance into a private backroom of pharmaceutically effective aces opening with Grouper’s ‘Vanishing Point’ and closing with an amazing cover of Suicide’s ‘Dream Baby Dream’. Killer No-Wave album from Delroy Edwards. Edition of 500** Following on from releases from the likes of Powell, Mark Leckey and Merzbow, The Death Of Rave is buzzed to present the exceptional debut album from L.A.-based upstart Delroy Edwards. Combining combustible little noise sessions made with guitar pedals and reel-to-reel tape at Art school, together with shocking recent productions, ‘Teenage Tapes’ showcases a lesser-heard aspect of Delroy’s highly aware and divergent tastes owing more to Minimal Wave, Noise, EBM and Black Metal than the Chicago Ghetto-House sound of his releases for L.I.E.S. and his own L.A. Club Resource label. For anyone familiar with his banging, tracky DJ tools, this sound may come as a surprise. However, if you’ve been paying close attention to his DJ sets and mixes, it’s clearly apparent that Delroy’s tastes rove well beyond the scene he’s part of. Of eight trax, there’s four noise pieces ranging from vicious vocal assaults to nuclear drones nodding to Prurient and The Haters, whilst the rhythm-driven pieces cover scorched ground ranging from Terminator II-style cues to a fusion of Lynchian atmosphere and rampant drum machine patterns coming off like Badalamenti meets Wold. Committed to worn-out tape over a number of years, it’s all testament to the spirit of febrile spontaneity and disciplined dexterity consistent to Delroy’s art, an aesthetic acutely at odds with so much anodyne dance music and manicured noise.

The album you are about to listen manages to consolidate the essence of two outstanding individuals: philipp münch who has made himself a name both as a solo artist and as a member of countless projects, and dan fox a.k.a. loss, a highly regarded veteran of the noise music scene. when philipp and dan met in person a mutual artistic respect was the spark for a collaborative effort and resulted in a transcontinental interchange of inspiration and sound files. after processing each other’s basic tracks, the final release clearly showcases both participants’ distinctive style as well as the uniqueness of this creative amalgamation. as the album title indicates, ‘transcontinental desperation’ is an aural statement of distress, anger and doubt, where topics like injustice and overthrowing the media have been integrated into the voice samples and lyrics. the suspense buried in the sound textures transmits an emotional spectrum of dejection and subliminal aggression, executed with a variety of electronic and acoustic equipment. dark ambient soundscapes are combined with clear and distorted beats, impulsive sequencer lines, abstract effects, manipulated vocals – all these components build a perfect bridge between minimal electro and contemporary industrial music. ‘transcontinental desparation’ deeply connects two exceptional performers for a haunting listening experience – an enthralling liaison which might well be continued some day…

Phylum Sinter is the musical alias of 33 year old Christopher Todd, of Detroit. The name means a set of species intended to be used as fuel. Since 2002 he has been involved in the leftfield electronic scene, having cut his teeth on numerous netlabels (Post Under, Crazy Language, Xynthetic) and releasing albums on n5md digital imprint Enpeg (the album ‘From Unity To Segmentation’ released in 2009) and MMR (‘Detroit Nocturnes’, released in 2010) and Hopskotch Records (‘Esc’, released in 2013). His style combines heavy love of DSP and modular synthesis systems and software generation with Detroit Techno and early IDM melodic sensibilities. He continues to write music daily and hopes to tour in 2014.

The first artist album on the Parisian label ClekClekBoom fittingly comes from French Fries. After debuting on the ‘French’ electro label YounGunZ Entertainment (alongside Bambounou) in 2010, Valentino Canzani Mora has remained central to ClekClekBoom since he co-founded the label back in 2011. The Kepler LP comes after a string of bass-heavy tracks and bootlegs, but there’s no denying this LP is the South American-born artist’s piece de resistance. At 13 tracks long, the album explores hissing cosmic ambience, experimental drum tracks, industrial bass-techno, broken beat rhythms, and some dubbier excursions on a classical tip. Special mention going to the album’s club-geared highlights “Bug Noticed” and “Change The Past”. Highly recommended.
