More of a collection of released tracks than an album proper, HOME nonetheless shows that Garnier is a producer of great range and depth. It should also serve to dispel any lingering doubts his critics had that he is primarily a DJ. From the balmy house groove of “Psyche-Delia”, which bubbles with warm keys, to the noisy big beat of “The Rise & The Fall Of The Donkey Dog”, through the atmospheric, broken beat techno of “Revenge Of The Lol Cat”, this collection favours introspection over floor fillers. That said, it does contain one genuine house anthem – the celebratory, call-and-response vocals of “Bang (The Underground Doesn’t Stop)”.
