Mindwaves-Music proudly presents the highly-anticipated album, FM VOLTA, from Berlin-based Danish artist, SOFUS FORSBERG.

Nine is the magic number, making this a very special release since the 2005-launch of the artist’s previous album, Udefra. So following a busy period of collaborations, projects and performances – Sofus brings us FM Volta: featuring a fusion of man-machine energies, identifying in particular with the modular synthesizer.

From the bizarre and eccentric to the dark and spacey: non-standard techniques in music production have culminated in some incredibly experimental sounds. This latest album is a sonic animation in the truest sense of the word – a painting of sound vibrations inspired by band members: the modular synthesizer, drum/FX machines and mixer.

The artist demonstrates a fascination with the ‘patterns of sound’ illustrated by nature: “If we look at geometry and the pre-designed elements of nature – everything is already there, so I feel I am channeling that information. So by studying things like the Fibonacci sequence of numbers and fractals – I am simply presenting ideas of how I see the world and the universe. It’s all connected – just like music, maths and science.”

From John Coltrane and Hendrix to Autechre: inspiration for music is discovered throughout the ages. The FM Volta album is a revelation though as it follows a nine-year spell of experimenting, studying, exploring, performing and collaborating. It’s been a long-time coming – yet Sofus Forsberg has reached one of the most defining pinacles of his musical career with this exceptional new release, in which he unveils a fascinating approach to music production.

The artist will continue to share, collaborate and release new material well into 2014. It’s going to be an interesting year ahead. In the meantime, we are happy to share with you this new production from the artist – so feel inspired and watch this space for more from Sofus Forsberg this year.

The project came about after SLEEP ORCHESTRA was given some recommended listening by a friend. After listening to PJUSK for many months, he found out that they were performing at Storung Festival in Barcelona the next year. PJUSK and SLEEP ORCHESTRA met at the festival and after a good chat and listening to each others material, it was agreed by both parties that they wanted to work together on a collaboration album.

Chris has said that, “If it wasn’t for my friend recommending me to listen to PJUSK’s “Tele” album this project may never have happened!”
That friend was Juan Diego Burillo (1974 – 2012). The Album “Drowning In The Sky” is dedicated to his memory.

The music of “Drowning In The Sky” creates a soundtrack of ambient soundscapes and drones that move you slowly and steadily through an ever changing landscape of water, fog and the clouds in the sky. This is the type of music to listen to when you just want to float away to another world.

Over a year in the making, MOON ROCK VOLUME 1 is the first in a series of compilations assembled by THRONE OF BLOOD RECORDINGS geared to explore the outer reaches of electronic ambience, cosmische vibrations, and crystalline acoustics. The sheer quality and heterogeneity of Meakusma’s music can only be attributed to its fine artist selection. Following the increasing trend in Romanian minimal techno for slickly broken rhythms, scene veteran Petre Inspirescu serves up a deadly slice of sharp beats and weighty bass reverberations on this new EP for Amphibia. “La Doi Pasi” is a snappy little number, letting the crystalline breakbeat move at an athletic pace while the bass gleefully wobbles around at rhythmical odds with the rest of the track. Keeping things equally stripped down but more techy on the B side, “Basso Ostinato” lets more of that oddball sampling into the mix for a hypnotic work out that will appeal to all lovers of Inspirescu’s existing back catalogue.
