The second Reprise EP brings together some of Europe’s finest new techno producers. Mathias Fridell has been making waves with his post-Sandwell dubby sound and “Durnadal” is one of his finest tracks to date. Heavy, dense beats and chiming chords are underpinned by stepping beats and a subsonic pulses. Parick Gil’s “Li Jet” gets remixed by Jeroen Search, who turns it into a no-nonsense jacking techno affair. Advanced Human’s “Hungry Jack” is also pared back, but in this instance, the main elements are pitchbent vocals, driving percussion and a welling chord sequence. On the subject of big chords, Kristian Heikkila’s “Skalpell” is a churning, chord big room affair.
