Known for his venturesome take on industrial music, Philadelphia’s Noah Anthony — member of the wrenching experimental outfits Form a Log and Social Junk — adds a more straightforward tone to his discography and hustles the common codes to sketch new ones along his first release for the label. Jumping from jerky filtered beat driven tunes to more hostile squeaky pieces, Extremities highlights the clash between convulsive rhythms and spasmodic sounds, hammering and twisting the tempo throughout unforgiving techno grooves. Its impassive development sees him stretching the opposites from one end to the other by confronting classic club themes to the most daring rhythmic and raw experiments. Leading to an unexpected result, as grotesque as it is confident, the whole release sets a very contemporary look on modern electronic music — in between enjoyable aggression and permissive ingenuity.
