Par Grindvik’s label is one of the few to successfully fuse techno with experimentation – and the latest release on Stockholm Ltd, by Peder Mannerfelt, showcases this approach.The Scandinavian artist expertly manages to juggle both approaches. On “Obey” he manifests itself through rolling percussive drums and muffled drones, like the call to war of a medieval army. “Stream of Time” is more dance floor friendly; focused on a jacking, stepping rhythm and crashing cymbals it sees Mannerfelt unleash recycled rave stabs and wave upon wave of malevolent, noisy riffs.
