Here’s an unusual combination. Released to coincide with this year’s Record Store Day, Dance Mania have reissued Mitchell’s “Rubber Jazz Band” with Len Faki taking care of the editing duties. That may seem at first like a mismatch but in reality it works well; the Berghain resident brings a steely intent to the jittery ghetto house track. It’s only a subtle change but one that gives the track a modern edge. The release also includes the wonderful scratches and malfunctioning video game bleeps of “Computer”. Recorded around the same time as “Band”, its lo-fi sound is worth the price of the release alone.
