Motor City house don Alex Omar Smith marks ten years of FXHE operations with the label’s first mix CD. Much like his celebrated Omar-S mix for Fabric, it’s heavy on his own work, counting no less than ten of his original ruff diamonds and remixes. But unlike that mix he’s also included a handful of gems by other Detroit producers, all taken from the hallowed FXHE archive. It all starts at the beginning with the deep disco looper ‘Motion’ taken from a 2004 repress of his debut record, and seamlessly wends a path thru the soulful shimmy of his Shadow Ray hook-up from ‘Oasis#13′ and dat remix of Colonel Abrams’ ‘Who Wrote The Rules Of Love’ to his killer remix of Kassem Mosse’s ‘578’ and the gorgeous ‘Here’s Your Trance Now Dance’ to cherry-picked goodness from Luke Hess, O B Ignitt, and DJ Blend.
