This is Lag’s third release on Mord and it showcases again his raw, unpredictable sound. “Stari Grad” moves from thumping broken beats into dramatic stabs and breathy vocals. It makes for a jittery but individualistic sound. On “Salajka”, the upcoming Serbian producer borrows from the cheeky vocal samples and lo-fi jacking aesthetic of ghetto techno to create an insistent but memorable dance floor track. “Liman 2” sees Lag revert to Mord norm; dense kicks, rickety rhythms and ghostly vocal samples all collide to create exactly the kind of track that label owner Bas Mooy will champion. But taking the obvious route is clearly not part of Lag’s DNA and “Detelinara”, which revolves around spacey sound-scapes and rickety percussion, proves this point.
