“Confused House is a label that popped up a couple of years ago putting out livejams from Steve Summers and Bookworms recorded in their living room. If you know any of these artists you know you can expect good music to spend your hard earned money on, delivering concise and understated jams.

But they can be seen branching out on their last two releases, collaborating with different artists. Max D and Steve Summers combined to form Activated and released a staggering slab of vinyl. But its the most recent collaboration I want to talk about.

JMMF consists of the combined talents of Steve Summers and Terekke. You can almost imagine the music already just by reading those names. Fogged up basslines and far away hi-hats, right? While this is true on some base level, it is also a simplification of their music because it’s much more than that. Even though I must’ve listened to the two tracks quite a few times now I wouldn’t be able to describe them accurately to you. I could if I really wanted to, if I analyzed the tracks and dissected them layer by layer. But by doing that I would fail to translate the emotional undercurrent of both tracks.

There’s some real feeling put into these and you can tell. I’ve never slept as well as when I put this on while I was dozing of. I’ve never been more involved in my book as much when I listen to this. The tracks mesh with the background and if you’re not paying attention you hardly know they’re there. It’s when the music stops you suddenly feel like you’re missing something essential.”
