Keeping things strictly Bristolian, Hotline Recordings steps up with its fifth belting release from the ever on-form Hodge, and it finds the energetic producer whipping up two very different kinds of stomper for the dance. “Mind Games” is brimming with ruffness, using chunky, metallic chimes to form the lead hook while the beats swing low and dirty with a whisper of UK funky in their bones. “Flashback” meanwhile takes a dreamier route thanks to its hypnotizing arpeggio, keeping the energy in the mix with a restrained but deadly kick thrum that should ensure this makes for an exciting diversion in more adventurous dances.
