Dubspeeka, the elusive Bristol based producer, has impressed over the past twelve months with an array of releases on his very own Skeleton imprint. Deep yet powerful and driven by the heaviest of basslines and kick-drums the Dubspeeka sound, with its dark and industrial edge, has been exciting many of techno’s elite and today the producer from the UK’s West Country makes his debut on Oliver Huntemann’s Ideal Audio label. Lead cut ‘Bully’ hits hard with its bass-laced groove. Slow and direct, this wall of sound takes hold like a firm grip to the throat. Its spoken vocal works together with the almost-suffocating bass to create a real heightened experience. Dark rooms and strobe light please? ‘Fix Me’ on the flip opens as a more straight up driving techno number. However, whilst still wrapped in Dubspeeka’s now trademark bottom end, its atmospheric breaks and shimmering guitar licks counter its drums to leave us with a driving progressive number. Impressive.
