Given the runaway success of his Get The Curse label, you’d bet on Paris-based Clement Meyer’s new venture, the 10″-only imprint Odd Frequencies, to be similarly lauded. This first 10″ offers nothing to suggest otherwise. Featuring cuts from two fledgling artists, it ripples with distorted machine drums, industrial riffs and otherworldly melodies. Irish producer Lumigraph sets the tone, layering spooky melodies and wizened electronics over a fuzzy analogue techno groove. D.K handles the flipside, delivering a coursing chunk of clanking industrial techno – all surging sub-bass, metallic stabs, raw bleeps and thunderous 808 rhythms. If this is anything to go by, Odd Frequencies will be a label to watch.
