“The Box Aus Holz crew are always one step ahead of the competition when it comes to soul-swinging sample heads with the gift of manipulation in their hearts, and so it is with Torben who returns for a second EP of wild-eyed and bushy-tailed house deviations. After a fiery intro “Track 2” finds itself worming into a sumptuous groove laden with fine bass licks, warbling keys and dusty drums that screams authenticity from the get-go. “Track 3” is a much rougher beast with its mean tempered hats and urgent claps making for a monstrous club jam, without losing sight of the rootsy sample digging. “Track 4” finds a particular abandon somewhere in the region of Moodymann’s housiest moments, albeit with sharper drums, and then “Track 5″ sets off on a brilliantly bugging drum hook that is so loose it could fall apart at any given moment.”
