Richard H Kirk and Ancient Methods rip the skin off Powell’s mutant ‘Club Music’ EP in a quartet of killer remix pillages for Diagonal. Rigorously tested everywhere from Mancy warehouses to Berlin power stations, the Ancient Methods mixes of ‘Club Music’ are among their very finest; whether in the rictus EBM funk of the ‘Körpersaure91’ version with its stentorian Front242-style bark and graphene-tipped snares, or the ‘phet-sparked clobbering of the manic ‘Pogo Im Säurebad’ – surely their maddest outing ever. Richard H Kirk, however, takes a different tack entirely with ‘So With Went Electric’, reducing its nervous energy into a chugging, narcotically-blunted ‘Main Mix’ and seriously impressing with the drastically eviscerated ‘Dub Mix’. A total sure shot.
