Huxley and Jimmy Posters’ Saints & Sonnets imprint drops it’s first release of 2013 with new artists JammHot delivering the ‘Move Forward’ EP.Saints & Sonnets’ release schedule has been unhurried but quality, with tracks and remixes from Ethyl (& Huxley himself), Detroit Swindle, RNDM and BNJMN all finding favour over the past 18 months. JammHot, the label’s latest signings, are otherwise known as Matt Mason, Jamie Adams and Akara Etteh, came to attention via releases for Fresh Fruchte and Left’d (Leftroom sub-label) and have been slated for an S&S release for some time. Their debut, a three track EP, is the epitome of modern UK House with each track providing a sideways look at classic deep house sounds.Lead-track, ‘Chrysalis’ is awash with flowing pads and textured vocal delays which makes for a blissed out listen but the track is punctured with guttural yet musical bass tones which provide memorable grit. ‘Wicked Walk’ is similarly deep and bassy, with the heady top-lines being counterpointed with an angular, slapping bass while closing cut, ‘Times When It Was Good’, focuses purely on it’s melodic, housey funk.
