This time, the marvellous nighttime world of Buenos Aires is reflected by the rhythms and sounds of Carisma (Carolina Stegmayer and Ismael Pinkler), who live together in the centre of the South American capital. Since three years they are delivering these tracks directly (directamente) from their flat through the city’s dark alleys to its underground venues – producing music to play it right away, written in a dialogue between studio and booth, at the Djs Pareja’s legendary FUN FUN parties, the famous Dengue nights, and other spots.

After releasing their Cómeme DJ’s favourite “Muerte Instrumental”, and having done remixes for local friends such as Djs Pareja (La Risa EP, Huntley & Palmers), Ana Helder (One Night in Cómeme Vol. 3) & Rumanians (Dengue Dancing Records), Cómeme is overwhelmingly happy to present their first full EP, Directamente.

So let’s dive into this new comemian nighttime tale.

Que linda es tu pradera is a round trip from warm up to afterhours and back, a descending and uplifting story, like a miniature free hands dj set, one night in a song, starting from the first beats that make us get in motion, swinging through hallucinogenic melancholia while the feet are stomping, building up to a peak of rimshot cascades, a rough stacccato of house music renegades like Mixx, Christian S, the Underground Quality, and a flute, a real flute, and real vocals of Buenos Aires spectacular cloudy evening sky bedroom production, action and fiction.

The title track Directamente pushes the beat in that very own Carisma way, as many already could enjoy in “Muerte Instrumental” (Cómeme). Eloy Vicario, Ismael’s younger brother gives this stomping oldschool techno frenzy a twist and swing, reminiscent of Seccession’s “Touch”, giving the dancer more options in the use of his or her own body mechanics.

Dragones is another one of these tracks we where missing in the future of music, after listening 24 hours to pop, one record after the other, the spirit of Techno – Insurgencia that labels like Teknotika or Cheap could provide. That world of Carisma is curious, hopeful, sometimes purple and full of darkening shadows, nocturnal creatures from beyond that stroll around an electric fire of subtle melodies and scary rave signals.

Talento Matemático is deep discoteca madness long before the word “deep” lost its initial meaning, when people looked into each others eyes while dancing and knew what the other was feeling and feeling the same without saying a word, the joyful swing on the dancefloor as we get lost

Matemático after hours of dancing in a never ending extension of our sensual activities. Again, the pounding Carisma beat underneath that silky skin is so hard it hurts, in a good way.

Finally, there are Córdoba and Todo, the digitally available bonus beats Selling Points: that will do wonders in the hands of the real DJ.

Directamente EP is a tale of its own, an intro to the world of Carisma, a shared intimacy that makes us jump or melt on the dancefloor, either way. The tracks are full of elements that leave space to drift in between, cling to, bounce to, where the dancer becomes the guitar solo or the absent melody that is held by those rhythms and atmospheres.
