More “unknown” action from the UDR camp, whose hand-stamped 12″ singles are fast becoming must-haves for fans of Motor City house and techno. While much of his material is deep, soulful and loopy, with great use of classic soul, jazz and disco samples, these five tracks are more electronic in feel. In fact, they feel more European in origin. Of course, there’s still plenty of soul amongst the smoother beats – see the sumptuous deep house of “Yes I Would” and “Making It A Reality” – while “The Underground Understands” offers the best of both worlds; deep chords and darting electronics.
