Part of the appeal for Ricardo Tobar to move to a premier league label like Cocoon was the label’s ability to access top-flight remixers. As Part 1 shows, Sven Vath’s label has certainly been successful in this regard and Fairmont and John Tejada have been drafted in to rework tracks from Tobar’s second album. Fairmont’s take on “Angora” is a classic slice of modern trance – the synth and bass merge into an indistinct throb of spine-tingling melody as percussion clicks and whirrs, working furiously to keep it all from spilling over into a kaleidoscopic mess. On the flip, LA native John Tejada takes on “Invierno” and marries a wall of pulsing bass with the eerie melodies that have become his signature.
