Alex Schaufel, Ânhém – Pivot

Dear Deer Records continue to have an exceptional 2018 with a new EP from Alex Schaufel & Ânhém, who serve up three fresh new cuts that are ready to make a big impact in the club. First track Pivot has already been doing the rounds and getting great reactions: it is a deep house track that gets you in a trance with its skittish percussion skating over rolling drums. There is tension in the percussion and the whole thing has a warm, rubbery bassline to die for. The brilliant Its then gets more direct with punchy drums, sirens and a late night city feel that is cinematic and absorbing. The expert melodies rain down from above and really set the mood. Last of all, the excellent Jungle pairs watery synth sounds with dubby drums and really hypnotizes you. Technoid stabs and icy hi hats then join the party and up the ante, closing out the EP in real style in the process.
