Let’s Play House’s latest missive comes from the previously unheard Raffaello & Palermo, a studio hook-up between Magic Touch man Damon Palero and Raphael Valensi (best known for his disco/house fusions under the Laura Ingalls alias). Predictably, it’s a strong EP that boasts house tracks to suit a variety of moods and environments. So while “New Boys” is a muscular, pulsating, stab-heavy and warehouse-friendly, “The Spirit” sounds like early Daft Punk with a little more loose swing. In contrast, “Grimaldi’s Shanghai” is built around both tactile, boogie style synth bass and swirling, starry electronics, while closer “Crazy Eduardo” conjures up fantasies of dancing to Red Zone dubs at the Sound Factory, sometime in the early-’90s.
