For the first time in two years, Hollis P Monroe and Overnite join forces as The Black 80s. “For The Rest” is an interesting concoction, with the Canadian duo blending their own quietly soulful vocals with a hypnotic groove that sits somewhere between Sound Factory style muscular darkness, Visionquest-ish powder house, and tech-tinged European deep house. The intoxicating original is accompanied by a couple of remixes. First, Mathias emphasizes the darker, woozier elements of the original on a suitably shuffling interpretation, before Carlos Sanchez injects some toasty warmth with a tactile deep house rub that benefits greatly from a hot new bassline, and some seriously dreamy pads.
