Pau Roca’s last solo single, 2021’s ‘Euphoria’, was an expert exploration of deep house’s most loved-up, colourful and tactile corners that sounded it like it was inspired by early mornings spent listening to turn of the ’90s Italian ‘dream house’ EPs. His latest single is similarly sonically vivid, vibrant and kaleidoscopic, with Roca first blurring the boundaries between dream house, Balearica and laidback nu-disco on ‘SS20’, before smothering a jacking house groove in sumptuously dreamy chords on ‘People’s Potential’. He then successfully joins the dots between electro, dream house and Balearic-era downtempo grooves on ‘Mystic Nonsense’. The EP also boasts two top-notch remixes: the warming, breakbeat-driven ‘Eternal Love’ mix of ‘SS20’, and Joe Morris’s relaxed, ‘Balearic beat’ style interpretation of ‘Mystic Nonsense’.
