Thanks to delivering fine EPs from the likes of HNNY and Esa, Omena has barely put a foot wrong since launching in 2014. Here they dig into the vaults and offer a first digital release for Ishi Vu’s 2015 vinyl excursion Green Is The Color Of Love. There’s much to admire throughout, from the cascading sub-bass, drowsy chords and broken house rhythms of the woozy title track, to the glistening eight-bit melodies, tumbling synths and gentle bongo rhythms of wide-eyed shuffler “Bipolar Nature”. Perhaps the most impressive tracks, though, are those when Ishi Vu mines the tribal drum sounds of Africa for inspiration, such as on “Plant Your Feet” and the slightly disco-tinged “Uhh Your Heart Is Melting”.
