Twelve months on from his last appearance on the label, serial collaborator DJ Octopus returns to Hot Haus. Predictably, he begins with another co-produced affair, with Lucrieto joining him for the hip-house-goes-to-New Jersey cheeriness of “Wet Coast”. On “Throne Keen” he wraps ghetto house-inspired beats in humid and feverish tropical sound effects, while “Morning Lab” fuses his usual punishing analogue rhythms with the deepest and richest of 808-State style chords. Finally, he surprisingly switches things on “Bug Lady”, a loose, crunchy and low-slung house revision of the Patrick Adams-produced disco madness that is Bumblebee Unlimited’s “Lady Bug”. Fearsomely percussive, it should cause a commotion on all sorts of dancefloors.
