Opening their account with a hefty deposit, the mysterious new Barefoot Beats label drop a killer, extremely limited 10″ of rare Brasilian disco grooves for the dancing people out there. On the A-side, NYC DJ legend Eric ‘Dunks’ Duncan
turns the heat up to 100 degrees with a scorching edit of Brazilian classic “Ripa Na Xulipa” by Rabo De Saia. The keen eared among you might recognise this stone cold banger from MCDE and Jeremy Underground’s Dimensions b2b, and if the crowd reactions there are anything to go by, it’s essential. Boasting a limber mid-tempo groove, feel good lyrics and peaking strings, this should put a smile on any face, and by the time the fusion-synth-freakout kicks off you’ll be going bananas. Over on the B-side, Sao Paulo based disco fiends Selvagem hook up with Carrot Green to build a seriously heavy Latin bomb that pays tribute to their beloved Bahia where the Mareh Festival is held each year. The ensemble establish a hard hitting rhythm track with the full gamut of latin percussion (triangles, cabasa, timbales, cuica, kitchen sink) along with various vocal samples, before dropping a fat bassline at the bottom, searing wah guitar in the mid range and space age synth line up above. It’s time to join the party!
