There’s a roughness to the aesthetic here, unlike the artist’s highly-refined EPs on labels like WotNot and King Deluxe, and his remix for Hot 8 Brass Band. However, the mixtape features lavish helpings of the creative and warm sound design with which Alphabets has made his name. Jumping from the more familiar beatsy tracks to bumping 4×4, via spaced out interludes, the music feels like channel-hopping through adverts in a surreal parallel dimension.
