Feldermelder’s “Mod Elephants” are a collection of late night recordings. Simply titled MOD_1 through MOD_5, these one-take recordings are meandering journeys through swarms of bubbling oscillators and fluttering filters. Through his textural approach, Feldermelder paints lively and capricious soundscapes, in which the mood might shift at any moment: synthesizer figures are modulated into rhythms, while percussive sounds are stretched into their grains. “Mod Elephants” are sound explorations softly bridging the gap between improvisation and composition. Feldermelder is a Swiss musician, sound designer, producer and installation artist, as part of encor.studio. Feldermelder’s influences range from the decomposed structure works of old pioneers of electronic music to classic Jazz, electronic and analog music from the now, before and tomorrow. The diversity of the music that inspires him, finds reflection in his own sonic adventures, forming his ever evolving sound, combining as map and compass to guide his artistic outbursts.
