Dealing strictly in pure house music, Brazil’s Sphynx – made up of Marcio Vermelho and Zopelar – could well become the South American nation’s best and brightest new talents; the popped up on our radar after an appearance alongside the mighty Soul Clap for Bastard Jazz Recordings. This time, they’re up on the young Magic Jams with “No Ar”, a soulful, deep and mesmeric house tune with a slow tempo and some deep-loving bass tones; “Enigma” follows soon after with a straighter, down-the-line house beat and some ethereal padding. On the flip, “Tempestade” goes cosmic thanks to its guitar riffs and disco sensibility, whereas Toby Tobias’ remix of “No Ar” is a no nonsense house jerker with one funky bassline in its belly.
