Two years on from their last outing on ISM, Yam Who and Parisian pal Tom Laroye rekindle their Qwestlife collaboration. As with that single – the double A-side Can’t Stop/Don’t Break My Heart – Qwestlife II sees them indulging their love of string-laden disco, synth-heavy electrofunk and summery soul via live instrumentation, analogue synthesizers and some suitably talented guest vocalists. “Give Me A Minute” kicks things off, offering a typically soulful take on 1980s disco-soul, before rapper Wildlife and vocalist Lola swing by for the P-funk-flavoured smoothness of “What You Like”. The package is completed by two fresh remixes of “Don’t Break My Heart”; a rich, warm and typically sensual rub from Yam Who, and a bolder soulful house-meets-disco rework from Geonis & Meir.
