Marius Circus has never been prolific, but what he does release is invariably excellent. Roger Wilco’s Night Out is his first EP since 2011, and sees the Norwegian producer lay down two tasty productions. The title track sets the tone, wrapping psychedelic acid lines and late night electronics around a hustling, forthright drum machine rhythm. The low slung, late night mood is explored further on the Hardway Brothers’ accompanying remix, which derives some of its power from a fuzzy, dub disco style bassline. “Amateur Time Travels” is an undeniably creepy chunk of early morning chug complete with gentle Balearic flourishes and a bold acid bassline, while pal Oyvind Morken’s “Golden State Dub Mix” of “Movements” is a typically atmospheric, Scandolearic disco shuffler.
