KS French and Mr Given Raw have already shared numerous releases, and the duo have appeared both on the former’s KFR label, and on the present Rebel Hearts – we do love a good house duo. Veteran KS French steps up with the first two cuts – “Olala Olala Disco My Baby” is a happy disco-house tune full of energetic strings and a vintage sort of bassline, while “Comme Ci Comme Ca” spins the disco on its head and comes out the other end with something of a funk bomb. “Glad You Are Here” by Mr Given Raw reminds us of Moodymann’s early output and is exactly the sort of tune that you need for the summer months, whereas “Get On Up And Do It” verges onto housier territories thanks to its smashing piano keys and driving rhythm.
