Cosmo Vitelli has been rather quiet of late, with his last solo release coming way back in 2011. Last Train To Marzahn – so called in honour of the Berlin studio he established last year – sees him explore his usual vintage Italo-disco influences, while also doffing a cap to classic EBM and industrial funk. Of the original tracks on offer, check the shirts-off Italo pomp of “A Cruel Story”, and the new beat influenced throb of “Chiens De L’Enfer”. The accompanying remix package is strong, with I:Cube transforming “A Cruel Story” into a dark, atmospheric, bass-heavy shuffler, while FX Mchn turns the same track into a vintage, analogue deep house-meets-Italo gem.
