Here, former Homepark man Rob Glassett dons his Fold guise for a second EP of atmospheric late night jams for the always-intriguing Electric Minds imprint. There’s much to enjoy, from the claustrophobic warmth of opener “Gully” – all bouncing, one-note riffs, heavily compressed bottom end and distorted techno drums – to the off-kilter deep futurism of the decidedly wonky “Gelatinous” (think alien melodies, intricate cymbals and rolling beats). There’s some piano-laden late night tech-house dubbiness in the shape of “Dun Kno”, and a triumphant trip into sparse, smoky, minimal dub techno territory (the standout “Harlyn Dub”). In other words, there’s plenty to excite those of a late night techno sensibility.

After the “Solid State Society” release, which was published as the Nautilus Project’s third studio album on U-Cover (Belgium), the futuristic aspects of the music project were rendered and materialized to a new intermediate station.

As slightly announced here and there, TNP changed its subject structure, away from the oceanic themes with which TNP has been become famous for in the past, for example with the releases of “Backdrift To Sea”, “Operations”, “Harbor At Night” and “Get Back On Course”.

“Solid State Society” was the first step and the beginning of the new direction into post-modern/future/sci-fi/space worlds, so the actual “ship” (the Nautilus, as a transport medium) just changed its terrain and time. That decision wasn’t planned in advance, it came naturally due to the revival of Nemo’s fascination about space, cyberpunk, far and endless worlds in outer space and all those great vintage times, where people imagined the post-modern future in the 80s with gaming computers and sci-fi books – although it was mainly produced in the territory of dubtechno and deep techno.

Now, with “Futuristica”, we have the follower release to the SSS album. It contains all the works which hadn’t a chance to find its place on the CD. Some of them were finished before and during the album release, some of them shortly after. Decisions had to been taken due to the side-production of “Shades & Forms”, so those unreleased tracks went to a label which was interested in a vinyl release, but it never materialized. Finally and with some additions, “Futuristica” has been published here, including great remixes of the highly successful artists of Quantec, Mr. Cloudy and Ayqix.

Emotional Especial gathers pace with an eighth release from Richard Sen, a man whose cultured touch has had a hand in various strands of the UK underground for the past two decades. Graffiti artist, graphic designer, music curator, DJ and producer are all vocations Richard Sen has done at one point or another. Here he goes solo with the Ghost Train EP, a dark and brooding release of old school meets new school house jack that takes it’s cues from ’80s New York, Italian house and the nascent UK acid house that Sen himself documented with aplomb on a 2012 compilation for Strut. Naggingly familiar samples and a low slung box jam groove drive the spectral title cut forward, whilst Sen’s mastery of delay is shown with aplomb on the Dub version that closes out the record. Nestled in between is the highlight however in “Meteor Shower” where discoid basslines merge with psychedelically charged keys and hollowed out steppers percussion.

The shadow is an unlit place or a signal generated by a light projection image of a body, caused by itself. Shades in the summer provide coolness and rest.
