For the third release in our Public Housin series we bring you Texas based DJ Corcovado. We featured him first time on the label around a year ago, on first Bass+Bonez compilation. Dirtiy hip-hop influence his music, and this is something we can appreciate here at Top Billin HQ.

“Do Anything” ft. Arms&Suites is a jacking ode to R’n’B with cut up vocals and upfront percussion that is sure to work on any dancefloor. “It’s Not Over” is a more subdued number with thick UK garage style pads and more of Corcovado’s cut up vocals, this track is made for the early morning sets! “Just Another Freak” ft. Pequino Baile rounds out the EP with classy filtered vocals and a driving soulful pianos that brings back memories of many 90’s house classics.

As debut albums go, this first full-length outing from Milanese youngster Jacky O is rather impressive. Rooted in atmospheric deep house and crackly techno, it bristles with live instrumentation, evocative vocals and interesting ideas. There are hints of new wave synth-pop, early New Order (see “Sun is Late” and the string-laden “Everything Breaks Too Easily”), Balearic-tinged krautrock-house hybrids (“Hat & Dogs”) and Walls (“My Only Chance To Stay Sane”). Throughout, there’s a clandestine, late night feel that’s rarely less than intoxicating. Clearly, Jacky O could be a name to watch in 2014.
