The debut album „Alset“ by musician Giuseppe Fallacara aka “Glanko” tells the story of genius Nikola Tesla. Quite similar to the complexity of the topic, „Alset“ is a comprehensive mixture between hard-driving rhythms and tense harmonies in a hazy way. These components evolve into a kind of transparent energy created by analogue sound generators, sound filters and numerous sound effects. Alienated guitar parts dive into dynamic IDM beats and bring the songs alive. Nothing remembers of a classical guitar sound anymore. Peaceful parts transform into highly charged impulses again and again and reveal their complexity in every track of this album perfectly. It’s not overloaded with harmonies – “Alset” contains a multifarious sound catching the listener’s attention all the time.

B3 Shaky Leg (Remix)

Perte d’identité, which translates to “loss of identity,” is the debut LP by composer, singer and poet Marie Davidson, one of the finest artists rising from the electronic dark-synth scene in Montreal. Her voice is a stark half-spoken monotone which will tell you stories from which you can’t escape unchanged. With this release, she refines her storytelling with suffocating tales that are both intimate and melancholic. Meanwhile, her miraculously human electronic rhythms are as frantic and hypnotic as an intense stare. In her premier full length album, she invites you to take a look in the peephole, revealing a fascinating cinematic picture. What you will be shown are the parts of yourself which you’re scared and ashamed of, but also the ones that reveal a haunting and glamorous sensuality. Not only will she spin you a tale, but her music will immerse your soul in images of sweet anxiety. “This album is about romance and a quest for meaning.”

“When I first began this project twenty eight months ago, I had no idea the end result would look the way it does today. I had obviously a goal in mind, goal which, I am proud to say, I have completely forgotten as the enterprise gained in importance. Nonetheless, I did feel as though I was making progress in some soon to be defined direction. At this level, it wasn’t necessary that my objective was clear. A gut. My gut was pushing me to spit out this… this…tape. Hence the name. Most of the time, I didn’t even know what was going on. The tape is a really nice tape to listen to while you’re, say, running in the park. Just put it in your cassette player and go run outside. You can run in your apartment too if it is big enough but you might as well go outside, if it’s nice enough. You can also listen to it when you are cooking or washing the dishes. Don’t play it, like, if you are a spa owner. That is bad publicity and I can sue for that. I will be very serious with that, don’t play it at your local spa please. Thank you.”

Somehow, sooner or later, the musical pathways in the musculotendinous receptors reach consciousness, embody the pretense of realism, and gleam the cybernetic facsimile. However the late dawn fades you just can’t describe the glimmer of such a sunlit matrix. With cerebral laden music influenced by the sci-fi épée emissions of the 80’s, Israel’s Random Value throws any eager ear tranquilly into the wishing wells while dolphins swim gallantly upon the open channels. When shoal divisions provide the subtle corridors situating the coral, the happy pockets open for the scuba diving grizzly’s as the greetings of the humpback await them. Having sung on for decades with their hands that still bleed, the chromatic aberrations are forged. The water sediments continue to sparkle welcomingly forever, oh so swiftly moving on the occultation of the agape… Add this very special record for Clean Error to your collection.

It’s a new Mr. Scruff album and you know what to expect, right? We widdle on about sexy potatoes and bouncy bacteria offering you a cup of tea, you have a little chuckle and actually make a brew, you stick on the album and… hold on. Because you see, quietly and without a lot of fuss (cos that’s not the way the Stockport Strepsil rolls) Mr. Scruff aka Andy Carthy has been evolving and developing his music.

So yeah, you can still count upon a shedload of gritty funk and stony soul (not sure where this metaphor’s going..?) but the new record displays a stripped back musicality, a depth that maybe hasn’t been there before. It’s been coming across his last few releases, but this is the most complete, sustained exploration of where his music is at right now. In Carthy’s own pithy words it’s “tougher, sparser, less samples, more bass. More vocals and collaborations and shorter tunes.”

If this record proves anything, it’s that there’s more, much more to the work of Andy Carthy than dancefloor grooves and funny cartoons.

Don’t worry though – it is still one sexy potato.

Artist: Sons of Melancholia

06 Look At The Forms In The Clouds
07 Liquid Revolution
08 No Static At All
09 Intuitive Dimension

11 Soulmates
12 Rapaz (Out Of The Blue)

A new artist in the diametric. roster is delivering his debut album as Sons of Melancholia. Being a long time contributing artist in the techno scene, David Nizet, better known as Ozka, has put his heart and soul into this album. It is an album of sheer beauty and pure emotions and will enchant you with it’s honesty and rawness in places. The music is a mixture of harsh metallic percussive elements, abrasive sounds and breathtaking moody strings and pads. The clash of these elements makes this album so special and we at diametric. HQ believe that this will indeed become a classic electronic music album. For fans of early Autechre and 90’s IDM music such as Beaumont Hannant, Stasis, Likemind and B12 but also with a nod to nowadays artists such as Vatican Shadow for example.
