Initial copies on transparent red wax** Belgium’s Koenraad Ecker swiftly follows his ‘Apophenia’ LP as part of the Lumisokea duo for Opal Tapes with a personalised invitation to his shadowy solo zones for Digitalis. Inhabiting space between slow techno and electro-acoustic dimensions, ‘Ill Fares the Land’ surveys similar soundscapes to Mika Vainio and Joachim Nordwall’s recent ‘Monstrance’ LP and Senking’s drowned space. Bolstered by extruded cello strings and serrated bass pulses, the fourteen-minute, two-part opener ‘Oran’ could be the expansive soundtrack to a brutal art-house horror flick, whilst ‘Kurtz’ and ‘One-Eye’ keen towards a sort of mittel European chamber-doom making subtle but integral use of resonant harmonics and traces of arcane melody laced with blackened bass. In the album’s most concise and perhaps poignant moment, ‘Decline’ reminds us of The Haxan Cloak or Roly Porter’s ominous portents, and finally ‘Stuffed Men’ closes with a display of quiet/loud elemental might comparable with Emptyset’s best, imbued with extra space courtesy of Rashad Becker’s typically sharp mastering treatment.

This is an extremely unique, extremely rare item that we are lucky to have to sell to you while supplies last. Recently Eluvium was commissioned to score a new exhibit by renowned installation artist, Charles Long, for The Austin Contemporary museum. This album is a highly limited artifact from that exhibit, pressed in a numbered edition of 300. Each side of opaque cream-colored vinyl features a single, side-long 20-minute composition by Eluvium. Software’s first release of 2014 sees the label move into further uncharted territory, with Death After Life, the debut album of Chicago-based artist Ryan McRyhew, otherwise known as Thug Entrancer. Relocating from Denver to Chicago in 2011, the seclusion and proximity to Chicago’s rich dance music heritage afforded him the time to create what the label describe as “in-depth and unconditional music” recomposing both Chicago juke and house. Nominally fitting in with the current trend for stark, monochromatic hardware productions, with a “pitch-dark motif” running through the album, Death After Life was mainly recorded “on the fly with very few overdubs and zero reliance on sampled sources.” Unlike the woozy textures of last year’s excellent Huerco S LP on the label, Death After Life is a noise-influenced album of techno and experimental beats marked out by its high fidelity sound.

22 year-old, LA-based Pyramid Vritra has been making beats and writing rhymes since he was just ten years old. When he was in high school in Atlanta, he founded the hip hop collective NRK (Nobody Really Knows) and subsequently linked up with Matt Martians of Odd Future after Martians heard NRK’s tracks on Myspace. When Pyramid Vritra and Matt Martians met, they naturally clicked and the collaborations began. They formed The Super 3 production group, and soon after, he and Martians formed the Jet Age of Tomorrow releasing their music via Odd Future.

During the day Pyramid Vritra drives a forklift around a home improvement store in South Los Angeles. His co-workers have no idea he makes music, he says ‘he tries to not talk to anyone there.’ Introverted in nature, Pyramid Vritra allows us to find out a bit about him through his debut 16-track record, Indra. The album swings in and out of darkness and highlights Pyramid Vritra’s knack for rhyming and making obscure beats – all sample free.

Pyramid Vritra reveals that on Indra his production and lyrics contain a lot of emotion. Adding, ‘there’s fluidity and a calm in the midst of complexity.’ Which might explain his name, Pyramid Vritra, which has two parts to it, he adds, ‘the pyramid has sides that are steep and smooth. Vritra is both a god and demon – a demon who kept the waters of the world captive until he was slain.’

Groove Armada’s landmark debut album ‘Northern Star’ gets a special 15th Anniversary re-release with a second disc of bonus material
Back in February 1996 the world was introduced to the funky Balearic sounds of Groove Armada via the ‘Dan Solo / Captain Sensual’ single on Tummy Touch. One year and three more singles later Simba and Big C, the men at the helm of the mighty Groove Armada, proudly presented their debut album, Northern Star.
Groove Armada recorded their debut album over the summer of 1997 in a secluded cottage in North Yorkshire where Andy set up his studio. They worked on dancefloor material during the sun-filled days and the more laid back grooves around the open fire at night. This unique setting no doubt contributed to the albums deeply atmospheric and unique sound.
The album is an easy-going and eclectic mix of music for clubbers, to be used before, during and after the party. The British press raved about the album and the previous singles were received equally well and Groove Armada went on to become one of the UK’s biggest dance music exports.
2013, marks the 15th anniversary of Groove Armada’s first ever release and in celebration Tummy Touch have remastered Northern Star, adding a bonus CD featuring every single Groove Armada track the label released. Enjoy!

Originally released via the short-lived Aquaplano label in 2008 and 2009, the two collaborative 12-inches were exercises in stark, tribal-influenced minimal techno (the label subsequently released two solo records from Nuel and one from Mike Parker before shutting up shop). They quickly sold out and have since been exceedingly hard to find, fetching large sums on Discogs. Now, Spectrum Spools will reissue both records across one double-vinyl LP, due out March 4th. The label struck up a relationship with Dozzy last year, when it issued the Donato Dozzy Plays Bee Mask record that ended up taking number three spot on RA’s list of 2013’s best albums.
