“The idea of producing the Album ” Back on Earth ” started in august 2013 after hours and days of sound seachings, sound creations and listening to my first recorded mini discs from the past. It has been a great pleasure and truly a diving journey with synths, thoughts, and emotions into my world of sound expression.

Composing the album, I reserved more space, far away from busy mind activity and technoid impulses. This was a good chance for me to have a retrospection in earlier composings and principles of creations. Still searching for unpaved roads and more soundmoving landscapes – between equipment, earth, home and other planets.

All tracks were arranged in a more extended, slow progressing and chronological way.
Inititiated by viewing backwards in time The Album starts with the title ” The past ” followed by the imagination of a journey. Images and Fantasms found expression in sound, taking myself into a kind of journey. A sound voyage: leaving earth, visiting other interesting planets, carried by frequencies and waves, in different stages of time on earth ( known-home ) and in outer space ( the un-known )

After having released some Ep´s and remixes for sub.spiele recordings, Label owner Frank Sebastian supported the idea of my album ” Back on earth” by sharing good conversations, and carefully pre-listening. One thing is for sure, his label sub.spiele has released many good digital Ep´s and celebrated beautiful podcasts during the last few years. To be the Opening-Artist of the of CD Release-section for sub.spiele, is a great honor.

Gesloten Cirkel has become one of techno’s true cult figures since his emergence back in 2009 with a self-titled 12″ for Viewlexx offshoot Murder Capital that explored the strange fringe between techno and electro, with only intermittent releases for David Vunk’s Moustache Techno and Berceuse Heroique and the odd remix since. The paucity of information surrounding Gesloten Cirkel’s identity beyond a given location of Moscow has lead to all manner of unfounded speculation, with the Ratsnake himself merely stating he is “just an out of shape balding dude who sits in an office” to us for his excellent Juno Plus podcast back in 2012.

The feverish reception to Gesloten Cirkel’s memorable Berceuse Heroique debut has seemingly coaxed the producer into a more proactive mindset, with remix commissions for Dekmantel and Permanent Vacation last year complemented by the announcement of a planned second BH release. Whilst High Speed Cruising is yet to surface, news has now arrived that Gesloten Cirkel will pull the Murder Capital label out of dormancy with his debut album Submit X. Due out next month, the ten-track double LP is described quite aptly as “not for the faint-hearted” with initial copies set to be pressed on coloured vinyl – interested parties can check the Clone site for some brief previews.

Following the larger-than-life “Silent Siren” and preceding a new album as a full-band, “Prologue” is an instrumental, introvert musical dialogue between Dean Rodell and Ivan Shopov. If both are known for their beat-driven music, Underhill’s new album is what they listen to and write when the time comes for calm moments and beauty. A melancholic and beautiful play of acoustic tones, dub atmospheres and electronic glitches, “Prologue” provides a welcome respite to an overdriven electronic scene and does so with subtlety and humanity. Underhill’s debut, 2012’s “Silent Siren” album, was a larger-than-life work. Combining the musical talent of three producers (Dean Rodell, Cooh / Balkansky’s Ivan Shopov and Current Value’s Tim Elliot) and including the voices of Martina Astner and MC Coppa, often all on one track, was a major effort resulting in a full and lush sound.

Just as “Silent Siren” was a surprise both in its line-up and its resulting seductive sound, “Prologue” is everything except what one could have expected. Instead of gathering the whole band again for days or weeks in the studio, Dean Rodell and Ivan Shopov chose to work together in a reduced setting. Recorded in the weeks preceding the 2013 edition of the Burn The Machine festival (and including a collaboration with the Bulgarian dark-ambient artist Mytrip on the title track), this new album is a intimate work, which sounds and feels as a concentrate of these two musicians’ take at dub, introvert music.

While Ivan Shopov and Dean Rodell are better known for their club-friendly drum’n’bass and dubstep (the first as Balkansky and Cooh, the later either solo or as part of Machine Code), they are no strangers to much calmer material. “Prologue” is the perfect example of their skills at long atmospheric tunes, dub-heavy ambiences and acoustic tones. An album clearly made for careful home-listening, far from the dancefloor or the concert stage, this new album is what these musicians listen to (and invite you to listen to) when the feet are tired and the brain needs beauty rather than beats.

Harmony and calm in an unassuming, perfectly crafted and compact album: Underhill’s second album is what the electronic scene desperately needs, and a “Prologue” in itself of more music to come.

Greek Dub techno artist Fluxion returns to Echochord here with Broadwalk Tales, a fifth studio album of a storied career and third for the respected Danish label. It’s been nice to see an artist and label develop a working relationship in the manner that Konstantinos Soublis has with Echochord over the course of those aforementioned albums and a clutch of 12″s and the Greek producer evidently feels comfortable enough to play with the confines of the dub techno sound. A press release for Broadwalk Tales has Soublis stating he “wanted to make something more than the usual dub techno tracks, with a hint of manipulated voices every now and then” and the collection is notable for the number of tracks featuring Jamaican vocalist Teddy Selassie. Fluxion fans will love this.
