For Variants 31st release we are proud to present a new artist to the label, another Russian in “Uasmi Nasser”, the scene in Russia seems to be so diverse and full of talent, I can honestly say, in my opinion of course, that some of the best producers around now come from Russia or former Bloc countries. The same goes for Variance, in fact I believe it can be said about most big labels now. We are not trying to claim that Variant is a “BIG” label, but it’s big to us, the family, the community, between both labels, the collective is strong. So much talent across the board, and here we are, April 2018, presenting another amazing release, this time its from, as we mentioned before, “Uasmi Nasser”. The release is titled “Code Talker” and consists of six original tracks of varying intensity and style, with a unique twist. We start off with a soundscape in “Grit My Teeth” this piece could be used to mix through, or as its own piece in an ambient/noise set, or as a crazy intro to your set, in this case its setting the atmosphere for something special, something creative, introducing Variant Electronic 031 “Code Talker”. Next up is the very danceable “Tanzen”, the german word means a variety of words, such as: Dance, Hop, Spin, & Bob, all things you will be doing to this really groovy track, fantastic progression, one for the bag for sure, and will tell the floor “Zeit zum Tanzen”. Next on the release is the namesake of the EP “Code Talker, this track starts with crackling like some sort of code is trying to transmit some sort of signal, its then interrupted by a thumping kick, to break down again back to the clicky clacky sound of what you could perceive as noise on some sort of transmitter, it then drops into the main track using the clicks as rhythm, and adding with layers of perc, and a winding bass line that will radiate amongst clubbers, one for the floor, slow mixed or dropped in, the broken kick and layers of elements make for a fantastic listening experience. Onto number four, “Commercial 24”, a very interesting number, keeping along with the “sound” or “theme” of the ep, with a very interesting introduction, then a drop thart would send any club, from Berghain, to Rex club, and back to Fabric, into violent, irregular movement of the body, or dancing, but its so intense that your body cannot be held responsible for its actions. Onto the second last track on this EP “Decimal 13”, it gets a bit filthier here, a grinding intro, that gets more and more hectic and intense as it progresses, it’s a teaser, use this one to start your set off and send the crowd deranged, the drop finally comes at around 4 mins, and it’s worth the build up, and the tension built up beforehand will go down a treat. Last mus most certainly not least on this great release is “Kincho” a nice techno number that rounds off the EP nicely, by adding another well needed element to it, the intro bares down on the drop and the drop is almost heavenly, a really nice airy melody comes in, the percs get busier, another synth filters in, and the percussion continues to progress leading into a pinnacle of sound. All in all this release is not one to be missed, something for everyone in here. Enjoy.
