Aquamarine is the debut album by Souns, an ambient project by the well recognized Vancouver-based producer and dj Michael Red. As Souns, Michael has released numerous EP’s and singles (New Kanada, Deep Sea Mining Syndicate, Subtempo, Kikapu, Panospria, Sensing Waves), made notable solo performances (Ambient Ping, Vancouver Art Gallery, VNM Festival, Bass Coast Festival, PGNB Festival headliner, Signal & Noise Festival finale), and has live collaborated with a varied list of performers (including Loscil, Tanya Tagaq, Gabriel Saloman, Rachel Iwaasa, Mei Han). Common themes are sounds and resonances of the natural world, the unseen world, outer space, and transcendence. Performances are largely intuitive and improvised, sometimes guided. Aquamarine is his most mature work to date, leaving a palpable resonance on the listener. Set to release on December 8th, 2017 via Subtempo.
