Haling from Aschaffenburg Germany. Theo Schmitt has been building a reputation as a emerging techno producer within the Frankfurt music industry. His debut album ‘The Game’ is a reflection of his passion for the variation in techno. Across the eleven tracks, Theo goes on a techno infused journey. From the haunting chords of the opening track ‘Chords Love’ you are immersed into the deeper techno vibes reminiscent of those terrance sunrise sets. Theo quickly switched the pace, with the quirky ‘Night Vision’. Adding a bounce that is designed to get you going. ‘Virus’ heads straight to the dance floor with it’s dark chords and vocal. This is a wide spread theme throughout that ties the album together. The albums forth track ‘Shadow’ quickly picks up where Virus left off. Once again Schmitt has you in a hypnotic techno frenzy with his well crafted builds, drops and techno melodies. The aptly titled ‘Hell Machine’ is heading to that peak time dance floor moment. Almost at halfway point into The Game and Theo picks up the pace again, adding gritty synth and a heavy 303 line. ‘Bad Synth’ lulls you in with its easy groove, until the hypnotic raw synths continue to open and build with the splashes, rides and hats. ‘Cocoon Freak’ is an ode to the Frankfurt institution, and a huge influence on the sounds and direction of Theo’s creativity. This leads us on to the album title track ‘The Game’. The balance between melody and techno is done masterfully on this track as it twists and turns through raw energy, to driving rhythms. ‘I am not Understanding’ heads back into the have 303 realms, and peak dance floor moments. With floating pads and another vocal hook, Theo has you locked back in once again! Keeping with the 303 vibes ‘Technorausch’ strips back on the synth melodies to focus on the raw acid elements. As we head to the final track of the album, Theo heads back into a space between the deeper, haunting aspects of ‘Chords Love’ but keeps the darkness and trip vocals that have become a firm fixture throughout many of ‘The Game’ tracks and ending the album on a high.
