It must be daunting for any artist to remix Laurent Garnier, but each one rises to the occasion here. These versions range in sound; at one end of the spectrum there’s Voiski’s take on “Psnuo”, where the L.I.E.S affiliate pushes the original down an acid-soaked rabbit hole, while at the other there’s the expansive melodies and searing guitars of Sebastien Leger’s version of “Psyche-Delia”. Remaining true to Garnier’s own DJ vision, the collection also focuses on classic house and techno; this is articulated by Steve Bug’s tracky, heads-down take on “Whistle For Frankie”, while Marc Romboy’s version of “Beat Da Boxx” is precisely the kind of dark, tunneling techno groove that Garnier would drop during his darker moments.
