Convex Industries has been sidling back into action after a little time out, and the label deems it fit to round off 2015 with a release from Von Party. To date only known for a couple of scattered appearances on Turbo, this EP provides the perfect chance to get familiar with the up and coming artist. “Scrap Alkaloid Jazz” tells you instantly that this is a record that strays from the norm, flinging techno tropes about the room in unconventional ways while the carnival-flavoured drums pound out and addictive stomp. “Psychotropics” too has a unique way to approach club dynamics, but by way of contrast “Broad Spectrum” brings a more soothing ambient feel to the release.
