The work of a relatively young Dutch producer, Heatwave sounds like the byproduct of an unusual transatlantic experiment. On “Fahrenheit”, the distorted kicks of classic Synewave and Woody McBride-style, demented acid is prevalent, while the title track ventures down a more extreme path as toxic acid grunge leaks out over Lenny Dee gabber drums. On the other hand, there’s “Heavy Melted Machinery”, where Detention sounds like he is paying homage to the murky hardcore world of The Mover and the brilliant “5505”, a noisy, distorted techno workout that could have slithered up from the sewers during one of Bunker’s squat parties.
