Frankfurt’s Orson Wells is quite the man of the moment. The Robert Johnson affiliated DJ/producer has had recent releases recently on seriously credible labels such as Innervisions and Chiwax. This new one for Berlin up and coming label 777 continues on with his penchant for wonderfully executed deep house on the retro tip. “A Connection” is truly soulful and melancholic, an unashamed all analogue jam that truly conjures the soul in the circuitry. “Distant Dreams” gets a much tougher groove on but still retains the deepness. The drums on this one are crazy, just wait for those moments where the claps go ballistic and the open high hats go rapid fire on you. Finally, on the flip is “Ratio” which has those spooky pads from the X-Files theme dancing over some seriously groovy 303 acid and more tight rhythm programming.
