“After handling production on two RATKING releases alongside Wiki and Hak, Sporting Life is stepping out for his solo full-length debut, which arrives via R&S Records on September 18. 55 5’s features 10 tracks of instrumentals drawing influences from Arca, Actress, DJ Rashad, and Aphex Twin.

The project is named after the Roland SP-555, Sporting Life’s equipment of choice, and he says the project was inspired by “fan-made YouTube basketball highlight videos.” He continues,”I was trying to make tracks that you could put images of athletes playing sports to, because when I watch sports set to certain music it gives me chills sometimes, or might bring a tear to my eye because of the emotion the players might be showing at the same time some ill track is playing.””
