Behind the Reset Robot project is Dave Robertson, a producer who has released standout singles on labels like Dogmatik, Intacto and Adam Beyer’s Truesoul imprint over the past 5 years. Now he steps up with his debut album, the stunning ‘Let Your Soul Outside’. The LP was written at Reset Robot’s home studio in Portsmouth and is an album of fascinating textures inspired by “all the music I listen to and love!” says the producer himself. “Ive wanted to do this for a long time and all of a sudden I had 8 or 9 tracks together which were a little bit different. I added a few more and asked a close friend, Tom Powell from Mister Woo, to add vocals to a couple of them and it was ready.” The result is a full length that touches on many different moods and emotions, starting with the melodically soothing tech funk of ‘Guitar Man’. Tracks like ‘Little Alice’ then pick up the momentum thanks to slick beats and crisp percussion and ‘Sizzler’ introduces a soulful vocal element over more tortured sounding, synth-laden grooves. It’s not all full on dancefloor material though, with tracks like ‘Desi Beats’ it allows you a little time to breath thanks to their more widescreen and laidback vibe, whilst ‘Sausage’ strikes a truly emotive pose that has your thoughts turning inwards. With this album Reset Robot proves both his range and his dexterity – no two tracks sound the same, and instead the Portsmouth producer explores every nook and cranny with a fine attention to detail that really makes the whole thing sing. ‘Let Your Soul Outside’ is a stellar achievement.

Pinch’s new vessel for the darker side of the dance officially cements its existence with this sturdy compilation that draws on a limited cast of characters for a focused lecture on how to keep things icy and heavy in the splintered dubstep scene. Acre brings industrial tones and jungle breaks to bear in spartan environments, while Ipman channels murky techno and gnarly sound design to vicious and paranoid ends. Batu’s offerings follow on neatly from his Dnuos Ytivil appearance and Elmono brings some more colourful elements into oddly moody environments, while Pinch’s own efforts find him taking his sound into playfully eerie headspaces that should freak out the dance admirably.

Deep and sexy. We could just stop here as this sums up this immaculate EP from Ceri perfectly. At Save You our ears are always open to new artists joining us, we dont subscribe to the label being just for us and our crew. Whats wrong with making new pals? We consider ourselves to have a core but also like to make new friends through the label and bring new people on board as we meet them and as their music draws us in. Ceri is a fine example of this. Her work with super dope label “Wiggle” had pricked up our ears, however, having not met properly we were delighted when we received this fantastic set of tracks in our inbox. We have since welcomed the talented Ceri into Save You. Both tracks here are highly playable, cross over genres and fit well with the labels mantra n they have an edge, are well produced and have a slight quirkiness to them. The remix comes from another new artist for us but someone we are sure you have listened to before, Moon Harbours Ekkohaus. His remix adds a heavy dose of funk and left-field vibes making a track that is as much for the warm up as it is for the peak and the after party n a rare thing. As always our artwork strikes a chord with the music and the original illustration from our in house artist is one of our best.
