Titled Boysnoize Presents: A Tribute To Dance Mania, the 13-track collection will see release through the German producer’s own Boysnoize Records imprint. It features a track from Dance Mania founder DJ Funk, as well as Dance Mania-style cuts from Boys Noize himself (in collaboration with Housemeister) and a handful of his label’s regulars including Feadz, Strip Steve and SCNTST. Bok Bok and Tom Trago have also rekindled their studio partnership to contribute a track called “Silent G Safari.”

“Many 12-inches from DJ Funk, DJ Deeon or Paul Johnson that were produced in the middle of the ’90s still work so well in any club environment,” says Boys Noize, real name Alex Ridha. “The idea of simple, jackin’ booty house records to use as tools, more or less, have always been timeless weapons in many DJ sets.”

The news comes two weeks on from the announcement that Boys Noize has mixed the next edition of the Fabriclive series. Dance Mania has also been enjoying some time in the spotlight recently—this year has seen the label relaunch after a period of dormancy, while last week Strut revealed their plans to issue a two-disc retrospective.

Dug out from the nearly lost files of an “old, forgotten computer” are the nine tracks which make up the forthcoming mini-album from Applescal, From A to Sea. One of the tunes crafted by the Dutch producer between 2008 and 2012, “Screams” is a particularly lush and sprawling cut which would have felt right at home on Dreaming in Key, Applescal’s most recent full-length effort released via his own Atomnation imprint earlier this year. The production presents its grainy textures, smoldering melodies, and other rich sonic layers atop an IDM-indebted shuffle, landing the track somewhere along the lines of a more stoney Clark or a subterranean M83 (during his instrumental days, of course). “Screams” and eight other recently recovered tracks from Applescal’s archives can be found on From A to Sea when it drops on December 9.

Magic sometimes happens with the wonders of the internet and digital age of the music industry. ‘Lost Again’ is a great example of just that.
The project started in Baltimore by Lomez and the singer Symbol. They then travelled to Florida to get the touch of Atnarko and ended up in Noir’s hands (and studio) in Denmark before the beautiful song reached its end result.

‘Lost Again’ is an instant charmer thanks to an intro sprinkled with magical chime sounds before beautifully unfolding into a cut that has so many expertly intertwined layers – evidence of the trio’s collaborative production prowess. A pulsing futuristic bass takes charge whilst the voice of Symbol gives the production extra character as it’s melodically cast over full-bodied synths. The package also comes with a ‘Raw Club Cut’ aimed for the tech house floors which is noticeable courtesy of a prominent increase in percussive weight and the distortion of vocals.

On remix duties is British producer James Welsh whose thunderous bassline provides a dark and decadent flavour capable of injecting vigour into the stalest of dance floor environments. Meanwhile Patrick Chardronnet demonstrates what Berlin has to offer with a deeper 303 led techno journey in comparison which features a marriage of Symbol’s vocals and ambient heartfelt synths which together juxtapose nicely to lull you into a subterranean groove.
