Diagonal unveil the first of two EP’s from Bronze Teeth, a new project from Dominic Butler of Factory Floor and Richard Smith of Optimo Music’s L/F/D/M** Dom Butler (Factory Floor) and Richard Smith (L/F/D/M) debut their fierce Bronze Teeth sound on the first of two hard-ass 12″s for Diagonal. Sustaining the momentum of Powell’s crackshot ‘Club Music’ EP, recently issued on Diagonal, the ‘O Unilaterals’ 12″ yields a trio of modular hardware-honed bangers belying the ongoing significance of steel and flesh. On the A-side they yoke rampant, fleshly pulses to a roiling industrial techno rhythm for 13 minutes of locked-in, foaming acid with little let-up. B-side, the spark-spitting machine funk of ‘Acetone’ gets off somewhere between Dom’s Factory Floor style and an acid-curdled version of Regis’s killer remix for Ike Yard, whilst ‘Glass Tooth’ steps lively with flailing electric blue fuzz and diamond-cut momentum. Following on from the inaugural Crossing Wires compilation by Toronto trio My Favorite Robot, next to mix it up for the exciting series is global electronic music icon Timo Maas. Still riding high off the success of his latest and greatest full length relaese, Lifer, back in 2013 (which blended trip hop with ambient, sleazy house with wonky techno and included collaborations with the likes of Placebos Brian Molko and Brighton chanteuse Katie Cruel as well as James Lavelle, founder of seminal e90s label Mo Wax) Timo has long been a pioneer in his field. Of course, he also runs his own influential label, Rockets & Ponies, and the German producer has also appeared on the MFR label before with standout track eDancing For My Pleasure from the first Crossing Wires. Timo is also a revered DJ and in 2013 celebrated 10 years as resident at one of underground house and technos most mythologised clubs: Circo Loco at DC10 out in Ibiza. As such, this new Crossing Wires compilation draws on his skills as both selector and sequencer and proves few can do it better than this long-standing talent. The mix features 14 brand new and exclusive tracks from a range of artists old and new n some are closely associated with MFR, some less so, but together they paint a perfect picture of the state of modern electronic music. Man of the moment Eric Volta kicks things off with the serene synth stylings of Dreams Dont Turn to Dust, a suitably lush affair that sets a soothing tone. From there we soon drop into a compelling groove courtesy of My Favorite Robots eDead of the Dance and Timo masterfully balances the tempo through his ensuing selections. Never does he get stuck in one place for too long, instead coherently going from spaced out sci-fi house (Discern & Signal Flows eCoarse Language) to tripped-out tech (Tim Greens ePlenty of Spiders) and kinetic and synthetic sounds (Martin Buttrichs eBubble Heat) with ease. Timos own productions appear twice, first in the form of the growling, shadowy eWatching The Robots then in collaboration with long time partner Santos on eZ Panorama. Tracks and remixes from Chris Carrier, Villanova and Daniel Stefanik then make up the latter half of the mix in which energy levels are kept up and heady, futuristic imagery is never far away. This is a compelling mix that showcases both the modern sound of house and techno whilst proving that Timo Mass has an understanding of dancefloor dynamics that few could ever question.

Hell Yeah is proud to announce the release of Hoshi, another exciting full-length album project that again involves the talented Tempelhof, this time in association with legendary Italian composer, director and musician Gigi Masin.

Fellow Italians Luciano Ermondi and Paolo Mazzacani are known for their hugely musical electronica and late last year released Frozen Dancers, their most recent album on Hell Yeah. It was a master class in spacious and emotive sound that was a joy to get lost in.

For this next album, the pair team up with legendary producer Gigi Masin, who played a key role in his country’s music scene from the 1970s onwards on radio, on television and in theatre with his directorial work. Always a fine source of inspiration for newer generations, the likes of Bjork and To Rococo Rot have been known to sample Masin’s sumptuous sounds before now. Together, then, Masin and Tempelhof make perfect sense as a musical partnership as this album proves across the course of its 10 elegant tracks.

The album is an exploration of peaceful ambient, of organic musical textures and brain soothing soundscapes that are as classically informed as they are contemporarily creative. Some pieces are floating and beat-less and suspend you right at their centre, whilst others are driven by light dustings of percussion from far off in the distance.

Words like water, heaven and peaceful spring to mind when listening to this album – its truly evocative and spacious, elegant and vast in its design. Like the synth delights of Vangelis, this album spreads out in all directions – sometimes synths are joined by sombre twinkling pianos, at other times more real life found sounds or occasionally the sound of distant, drifting voices.

Despite the serenity of this album, it’s also a piece or work that really takes you somewhere: as such it’s too moving and emotive to be truly ambient as it retains your attention from start to finish. Come the end you feel like you’ve been meditating in your own world, free from the distractions of life… it’s that peerless craftsmanship from Tempelhof and Gigi Masin that make this album such a breath taking triumph.
